To the north of the Haute-Savoie department, on the southern bank of Lake Geneva opposite Switzerland and on the hillsides of the Chablais Alpine foothills, Evian is located at a crossroads, 85 km from Annecy, 45 km from Geneva and 13 km from Lausanne across the lake. Built in the form of an amphitheatre on the lake’s shores, the town has a population of 8,000 and stretches from 372 m (the altitude of the lake) to 739 m. The continental type climate is tempered by Lake Geneva. The town of Evian cultivates the theme of “natural beauty”, offering an exceptional setting between lake and mountains. Evian has preserved this setting, the cradle of the world-renowned natural mineral water, and promoted it via conservation of architectural heritage that pays witness to its history. This spa town also displays to visitors the image of a dynamic and hospitable town, thanks to a broad range of tourist activities in all seasons.
