It is the climax, the verdict on this short and nervous stage. As usual, the start will be given on the Promenade des Anglais. The first difficulty will be the Col de la Turbie (7,2 kilometres with 7 % average slope) before the Col d’Eze and the downhill to Villefranche-sur-Mer. The finish will be set up on the Promenade des Anglais. Then, we will know the overall winner.

Steeped in 25 centuries of history with a unique Baroque and Belle Époque heritage, Nice, the most celebrated French city in the world after Paris, is frequented by millions of tourists, with a wide national and international clientele. After completion of the tramway, the City of Nice decided to continue its policy in favour of sustainable development and to promote environment friendly modes of transportation, accessible to all inhabitants of the city but also to the entire Nice Côte d’Azur urban community. This is why, from next July onwards, Nice will be equipped with a self service cycle transportation service. Like other towns in France, it will thereby be able to propose an alternative form of transportation for city journeys at the same time extending its network of cycle paths, to be completed by the year 2013. These measures will boost the image of Nice, the legendary tourist capital, among French and foreign visitors. To encourage physical activity and an active style of life: such are the objectives of the eco-friendly Mediterranean city that Nice is poised to become.
