Special rules

Article 1. Organisation

The 94th LIÈGE-BASTOGNE-LIÈGE is organised by Performance Sport Organisation and the Royal Pesant Club Liégeois. It will take place on Sunday 27 April 2008.

 

Article 2. Type of race

The race is open to sports groups; the number of cyclists per team is limited to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8.

 

Article 3. Race office

The race office will be open on Saturday 26 April from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and will be established in:
The Palais des Princes-Evêques
Place Saint-Lambert
in LIÈGE
Race number bibs can be picked up by the licensed teams' managers from 2.30 p.m. to 4.45 p.m.
Sports Directors' meeting is scheduled to take place at 5.00 p.m. in the organisation's race office, in the presence of the Commissioners' Committee members.

 

Article 4. Radio-Tour

Race information will be broadcast on the frequency 169.425 Mhz.

 

Article 5. Neutral technical assistance

Neutral technical assistance services are provided by Mavic.
This service is ensured by 3 technical vehicles and a motorbike.

 

Article 6. Finishing times

Any cyclist whose finishing time exceeds 5% of the winning time is not classed. This limit can be extended in exceptional circumstances by the Commissioners' Committee after consulting the race's organiser.

 

Article 7. Classification

The following classifications are established: an individual time classification, a classification of uphill sections.

 

Article 8. Classification of uphill sections

A general classification is established by adding together the points awarded for all of the 12 uphill sections.
The points awarded for these uphill sections are 4 - 2 - 1 respectively, for the first 3 cyclists placed.
To qualify for the final general classification, the cyclists must have finished the race.
In the event of a tie, the classification on the finish line takes precedence.
The prize money awarded for uphill sections is divided up between the classifications for the uphill sections and the final general classification.

Table of prizes for uphill sections

For each of the uphill sections:

  • for the 1st cyclist: €250

i.e. €250 x 12 = €3,000

Final general classification

  • for the 1st cyclist: €2,000
  • for the 2nd cyclist: €750
  • for the 3rd cyclist: €500

i.e. €3, 250

Total amount of prize money awarded for the uphill sections €6,250

The general total of prize money awarded is €56,250

 

Article 10. Antidoping controls

Antidoping controls are carried out under the authority of designated officials in the organisation's caravan, near the changing rooms- showers.

 

Article 11. Protocol

The following cyclists must attend the protocol ceremony:
the first 3 cyclists in the race,
the winner of the classification of the uphill sections.

 

Article 12. Penalties

Only the scale of penalties which complies with the race is applicable.
