Decoration competition

In the Tour de France 2007, the companies Doublet, Champion and Éco-Emballages, in cooperation with A.S.O., will hold the 6th Town and Village Decoration Competition.

Every year the towns and villages that welcome the Tour give everything to the race. This competition allows residents, associations and schools to play an active role. The most original projects which serve to enhance the values of the Tour will be acknowledged by a panel chaired by Bernard Hinault. Embellishing the community to welcome the Tour enhances the enjoyment of riders, spectators and television viewers. A population joining efforts and talent to celebrate the coming of the Tour deserves our acknowledgements. By rewarding the most creative projects, the Decoration Competition wishes to congratulate the joint efforts of town services, residents, associations and shopkeepers.

This competition, created in 2002 by Doublet, is open to all towns and villages that are present in the itinerary of the Tour de France 2007, except the city of the prologue and the first stage, London, as well as the city of arrival, Paris. More than 500 towns and villages have participated in the previous five editions of the Decoration Competition of the Tour de France.

Special “Environmental” Prize

In this 6th edition, a special “Environmental” prize has been created. This prize will be awarded to the town that offers the most innovative decoration project that has been done in whole or in part with recycled materials. The objective of this prize is to raise awareness on environmental issues in all towns and villages through which the Tour will pass.
