Amateurs and bystanders are always numerous along the start and finish lines of each stage of the Tour de France. While they wait to see their favourite riders in action, the public can enjoy various activities organised for their entertainment. If you wish to have a good time and maybe bring home some souvenirs, just come and meet us on the strategic places of the Tour.
While the young riders selected by the local club receive a full rider gear from LCL, the riders begin to arrive at the podium where they attend the sign-on. The public can also listen to Daniel Mangeas’ comments on the stage of the day. They will learn about the champions of the Tour and answer Daniel’s tricky questions to win the prizes proposed by Haribo. The less knowledgeable about cycling might also get sweets, Cochonou sausages, Pretzels (Ancel) or Grand’Mère coffee.
Several hours before the start of the race, the public is welcomed at the PMU podium and also in a “kids” village” extending over 500 m². There children will have the possibility to pass a “bicycle licence” and the lucky ones will even get a particular lesson with Laurent Jalabert, who will be present on the site from time to time.
Sometimes spectators have to wait for a long time, and the sun can beat down hard. Spectators will receive free hats and cotton hats from the hostesses of LCL, champion, Skoda and Cochonou, while Nestlé Aquarel will provide bottles of water. On the sports side, the Tour gives way to the youth and organises the “P’tite Boucle Nesquik”, a bicycle race organised on the last 500m of the stage for the kids selected by the operation “À chacun son tour” (My tour).
