ARTICLE 1. Organisation
The 20
th TOUR DU FASO is jointly organised by the Cycling Federation of Burkina Faso, TDF Sport and Amaury Sport Organisation in accordance with UCI rules. It is held from the 25
th of October to the 5
th of November 2006 and consists of 11 stages and 1 rest day.
ARTICLE 2. Participation
The 20
th Tour du Faso is open to national teams, sporting groups and other structures authorised by UCI class 2 rules.
Each team will be made up of 6 cyclists.
ARTICLE 3. UCI Ranking
UCI overall individual ranking for the race: 40, 30, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6 and 3 points to the first 8 cyclists for the final individual ranking, 8, 5 and 2 points to the first 3 cyclists for each stage and 4 points to the leader (for each stage).
ARTICLE 4. Administration
Registered team leaders can collect their teams' competitor numbers from 10 a.m. on Tuesday 24
th of October at the C.A.C.S (Centre d'Accueil et de Conférence), Boulevard Circulaire, route de Fada N Gourma, in OUAGADOUGOU.
The team managers' meeting with the members of the Jury is scheduled for Tuesday 24th of October at 5 p.m. at the C.A.C.S.
The Opening Ceremony of the 20
th Tour du Faso will take place on Tuesday 24
th of October from 7.30 p.m. at the Maison du Peuple de Ouagadougou.
ARTICLE 5. Radio-Tour
Race information will be transmitted on the “Radio-Tour” frequency. Teams will be provided with receiver sets for the duration of the competition.
ARTICLE 6. Overall individual time ranking
The overall individual time rankings are calculated by adding together the times recorded for each stage counting the bonuses and penalisations according to UCI rules article 2.6.014.
When two competitors have identical times in the overall ranking, the places obtained in each stage are added together and, if this does not separate them, the place obtained in the most recent stage - UCI rules article 2.6.015.
The leader of the overall individual time classification wears a
yellow jersey.
ARTICLE 7. Overall individual points ranking
The overall individual classification by points is calculated by adding together the points obtained at the end of each of the 11 stages according to UCI rules article 2.6.017.
The points are awarded as follows from 1st place to 20
th place: 30, 27, 25, 23, 21, 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.
In the event of a draw in the final overall individual classification by points, the following criteria are applied in order until the riders are separated:
1) Number of stage wins
2) Number of wins in the intermediate sprints
3) Final overall individual classification by time
The leader of the overall individual points ranking wears a
green jersey.
ARTICLE 8. Overall individual ranking for intermediate sprints
An overall individual classification for intermediate sprints is established by adding together the points obtained in each intermediate sprint.
For each sprint, the first three cyclists to cross the line are awarded 3, 2, and 1 point.
In the event of a draw, the following criteria are applied until the riders are separated:
1) Number of intermediate sprints won,
2) Number of 2
nd places,
3) Number of 3
rd places,
4) Final overall time ranking.
The leader of the overall ranking for intermediate sprints wears a
pink jersey.
ARTICLE 9. Overall individual young cyclist ranking
The overall individual classification of young cyclists is reserved for riders born after the 1
st of January 1980.
The rider placed first in the overall individual time classification is the daily leader in the young cyclist rankings. At the end of the last stage, he is declared winner of the overall young cyclist classification.
The leader of the overall individual young cyclist classification wears a
white jersey.
ARTICLE 10. Overall individual ranking for best cyclists from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) countries
The overall individual UEMOA classification is reserved for riders with the nationality of one of the UEMOA member countries.
The rider placed first in the overall individual time classification is the daily leader in this “integration” classification. At the end of the last stage, he is declared winner of the UEMOA best cyclist classification.
The leader of the overall individual UEMOA classification wears a
light green jersey.
ARTICLE 11. Overall individual Best African cyclist ranking
The overall individual Best African classification rewards riders from African zone teams (non-European). The first placed rider out of these teams in the overall individual time classification is the daily leader in the ranking.
At the end of the last stage, he is declared winner of the Best African classification.
The leader of the overall individual Best African classification wears a
blue jersey.
ARTICLE 12. Overall individual Combativity ranking
The overall individual classification of combativity rewards the rider who puts in the most effort and demonstrates excellent sportsmanship. This classification applies for the flat stages and is awarded by a jury led by the Tour director.
The winner of the combativity award for each stage wears a
red jersey during the following stage.
At the end of the Tour du Faso the members of the jury designate a rider to receive the special combativity award.
ARTICLE 13. Team rankings
The daily team standings are calculated by adding together the three best individual times from each team. In the event of a draw, the teams are separated by adding together the places obtained by the first three riders to finish the stage. The overall team classification is calculated by adding together the best three individual times from each team in all the stages raced. In the event of a draw, the following criteria are applied in order until the riders are separated:
1) Number of first places in the daily team ranking
2) Number of second places in the daily team ranking
Etc.
Any team reduced to less than 3 riders is eliminated from the Overall Team Rankings.
ARTICLE 14. Bonuses
Time bonuses are awarded for all stages.
They are attributed as follows:
At stage finish lines: 10’’, 6’’, and 4’’ to the top 3 ranked riders.
For each intermediate sprint: 3’’, 2’’, and 1’’ to the top 3 ranked riders.
ARTICLE 15. Disqualification times
For each stage, the disqualification time limit is 20% more than the winning time.
ARTICLE 16. Anti-doping tests
Drug testing is carried out by the UCI and by designated officials at the finish line of each stage.
ARTICLE 17. Protocol
At the end of each stage, the following riders must present themselves for the prize-giving ceremony:

The leader of the overall individual points ranking
The leader of the overall individual ranking for intermediate sprints
The leader of the overall individual young cyclist ranking
The leader of the overall individual ranking of best UEMOA cyclists
The leader of the overall individual ranking of the best African cyclist
The leader of the overall individual ranking for Combativity
The riders designated to receive sashes
At the start of each stage the following persons must present themselves:

ARTICLE 18. Penalties
Penalties conform to UCI rules.
ARTICLE 19. Helmets
All cyclists must wear a protective helmet in accordance with UCI rules.
