Special rules

ARTICLE 1. Organization
The 64th PARIS - NICE is organized by TDF Sport and Amaury Sport Organization under the rules of the Union Cycliste International and the Fédération Française de Cyclisme. It will last from Sunday, 5 March, to Sunday, 12 March with 1 prologue race and 7 stages.

ARTICLE 2. Participation
The competition is open to Pro Teams and U.C.I. Professional Continental Teams. The number of riders per team is limited to a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 5 at the departure.

ARTICLE 3. Registration
The registration period will be on Saturday, 4 March, from 14:30 to 18:00.
The shirt numbers can be drawn by the licensed team managers between 14:30 and 16:45.
The meeting of the Sports Directors and the members of the commissaires panel is scheduled for 17:00 at the organizers' desk.

ARTICLE 4. Radio-Tour
Race information will be transmitted on the "Radio-Tour" frequency, 169.425 MHZ.

ARTICLE 5. Impartial Technical Assistance
Impartial technical assistance will be provided by MAVIC. This service is provided via three technician's cars and a motorcycle for accidents during the stages.

ARTICLE 6. Individual General Classification on Time
The individual general classification on time is established by adding the times recorded in each of the stages and the prologue, taking into account bonuses and penalties - Article 2.6.014 of the UCI. The leader in the individual general classification on time will wear a yellow and white jersey.

The prizes in the all-around individual ranking are:

ARTICLE 7. Best Climber Classification
A classification of the top climbers is compiled throughout all the climbs of the 7 stages in accordance with Rule 2.6.017 of the UCI.
The following point values are attributed for each of the climbs:
    Category 3 climbs: 4 - 2 and 1 points to the top 3 climbers
    Category 2 climbs: 7 - 5 - 3 - 2 and 1 points to the top 5 climbers
    Category 1 climbs: 10 - 8 - 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 and 1 points to the top 7 riders.
An overall ranking is established by adding the points obtained for all the climbs and hills.
The leader in the climber classification will wear a dotted jersey.
In compliance with Article 2.6.017 of the UCI Regulations, in the event of a tie within the general individual mountains classification, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the riders are separated:
    1°) number of first places in Category 1 climbs
    2°) number of first places in Category 2 climbs
    3°) number of first places in Category 3 climbs
    4°) general individual classification by time
The prizes awarded to the best climber classification are:

- For each of the 32 climbs:
1st: €100
2nd: €75
3rd: €25
€ 200 X 32 = € 6,400

- In the final general classification:
1st: € 2,000
2nd: € 1,000
3rd: € 800
4th: € 400
or € 4,200

Total prizes for the best climber classification: € 10,600

ARTICLE 8. Classification by Points
A classification by points is established by adding the points obtained in each of the 7 stages as well as in the intermediate sprints in accordance with Article 2.6.017 of the UCI.
Each arrival is assigned the following number of points: 25 - 22 - 20 - 18 - 16 - 15 - 14 - 13 - 12 - 11 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 and 1 to the first 20 riders to arrive.

At each intermediate sprint: 3 - 2 and 1 points.
The leader in the classification by points will wear a green and white jersey.
In compliance with Article 2.6.017 of the UCI Regulations., in the event of a tie within the general classification by points, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the riders are separated:
    1°) number of stage victories
    2°) number of wins in intermediate sprints counting for the general classification on points
    3°) general individual classification by time
The prizes awarded in the classification by points are:

- For each of the intermediate sprints:
1st: € 100
2nd: € 75
3rd: € 25
€ 200 X 14 = € 2,800

- In the final general classification:
1st: € 2,000
2nd: € 1,000
3rd: € 800
4th: € 400
or € 4,200

Total prizes for classification by points: € 7,000

ARTICLE 9. Young Rider Classification
The young rider classification is reserved to riders born after 1 January 1981.
The leader of the young rider classification will wear a blue and white jersey.

The prizes awarded in the young rider classification are:
Prologue and 7 stages:
- 1st € 150 X 8 = € 1,200
- in the final general classification: 1st € 800

Total prizes for young rider classification € 2,000

ARTICLE 10. General Team Classification
In compliance with Article 2.6.017 of the UCI Regulations., The team classification for the day shall be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team. In the event of a tie, the teams shall be separated by the sum of the places acquired by their three best placed riders on the stage. If the teams are still tied, they shall be separated by the placing of their best rider on the stage classification.

The team general classification shall be calculated on the basis of the sum of the three best individual times from each team in each stage ridden. In the event of a draw, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the teams are separated:
    1°) number of first places in the daily team classifications
    2°) number of second places in the daily team classifications, etc.
If there is still a draw, the teams shall be separated by the placing of their best rider in the General Individual Classification.
Any team reduced to fewer than three riders shall be eliminated from the General Team Classification.

ARTICLE 11. Prizes
The total prizes being awarded during the 64th PARIS-NICE race are:
    - Individual General Classification on Time: € 120,000
    - Best Climber Classification: € 10,600
    - Classification by Points: € 7,000
    - Young Rider Classification: € 2,000
TOTAL PRIZE AMOUNT: € 139,600

ARTICLE 12. Bonuses
Time bonuses to be reflected only in individual general classification by time are assigned during the 7 stages in accordance with Article 2.6.018.

The assignment of bonuses is as follows:
1°) For each of the intermediate sprints: 3'' - 2'' and 1'' to the top 3 riders
2°) For each stage finish: 10'' - 6'' and 4'' to the top 3 riders

ARTICLE 13. Finishing Deadlines
The finishing deadlines are as follows:
1st - 2nd - 4th : flat stages = 8%
3rd - 5th - 6th - 7th: average mountain stages = 12%

The commissaires panel may make exceptions after consultation with the organizer.

ARTICLE 14.
For the prologue, an individual timed race, riders start the race at one-minute intervals in the order of rotation established by the race organizer in conjunction with the team managers and the commissaires panel.

ARTICLE 15. Anti-Doping Inspection
The anti-doping inspection is conducted on the authority of the Union Cycliste Internationale and designated officials at the finish of each stage in the organizer's motor home.

ARTICLE 16. Protocol
At the end of each stage, the following must be present at the protocol:
At the finish:
    - the stage winner
    - the leader of the individual general classification
    - the leader of the classification by points
    - the leader of the best climber classification
    - the leader of the young rider classification
ARTICLE 17. Penalties
Penalties comply with UCI Regulations.
