Special rules

ARTICLE 1. Organisation
The 92nd LIEGE-BASTOGNE-LIÈGE is organised by Amaury Sport Organisation and the Royal Cyclist’s Pesant Club Liégeois according to the rules of the International Cycling Union (U.C.I) and those of the Royale Ligue Vélocipédique Belge. It will be held on 23rd April 2006.

ARTICLE 2. Type of event
The event is reserved for athletes in the Men’s Elite Category.

ARTICLE 3. Participation
In compliance with article 2.1.005 of the U.C.I. Rules, the event is open to U.C.I ProTeams and to Professional Continental Teams.
In compliance with article 2.2.003 of the U.C.I. Rules, the number of riders per team is limited to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8.

ARTICLE 4. Office hours
The starting line desk will be located at the PALAIS PROVINCIAL – Palais des Princes Evêques, Place Saint Lambert in LIÈGE on Saturday 22nd April from 2.30pm to 6pm.
Shirt numbers can be collected by the managers of licensed teams between 2.30pm and 4.45pm.

The meeting of the Sports Directors, organised according to article 1.2.087 of the U.C.I Rules, in the presence of the Members of the College of Commissioners, is scheduled for 5pm at the organiser’s desk.

ARTICLE 5. Radio-Tour
Race information will be broadcast on the radio frequency 169.425 MHZ.

ARTICLE 6. Impartial Technical Assistance
Impartial technique assistance will be provided by MAVIC.This service is provided via an average of 3 technician’s cars

ARTICLE 7. Time to finish
Any contestant arriving at the finishing line with a time exceeding 5% of the winner’s time is dropped from the classification. This time frame may be increased in exceptional circumstances by the College of Commissioners, in consultation with the organiser.

ARTICLE 8. Classifications
The following classifications have been established:
- Individual classification by time,
- Classification for climbers.

ARTICLE 8.2. Classification for climbers
An overall ranking is established by adding the points obtained for all 12 climbs.
The following point values are attributed for each of the climbs: 4 - 2 and 1 point to the top three 3 climbers.
Competitors must finish the race in order to be entitled to the prize of the final overall classification.In the event of a tie, classification at the finish line will settle the issue.
The prizes awarded for the classification of climbers are distributed for classifications at the summits and the final general classification.

ARTICLE 10. Anti-doping Inspection
Anti-doping inspections are carried out under the authority of the U.C.I, at the organisation’s Motor Home located near the dressing rooms/showers.

ARTICLE 10. Protocol
In compliance with 1.12.112 of the U.C.I Rules, the following riders must be present at the podium for the formal ceremony:
- The first 3 competitors in the race
- The winner of the best climber classification
